Coping with Dystopia
I believe I am already showing up on academia - being mentioned I mean.
But I am not on it — because i’d have to pay and whats important is - not really into to doing academic papers. I am not trying to do a de Mann. But I do engage with it, constantly, read it constantly. Just picked up Delacroix’s journal. For color theory. Love cross bodying books books.
Enjoying substack for its complete freedom so easily employed. I can address any rhetorical issue as occurs as part of its occurrence, simply (methodically/melodically) do a chrono on rhet — and its perfectly noble, bobble and stew…here I accrue.
Translating is actually quite fun. If you love tracking down language. Plays into me as succor and relief.
Novel is a dystopia?
Seems to show up in academia in that area, dystopia, but also romance - Dont know precisely. Haven’t actually joined. They just send me notices that I have been mentioned.
Got nine so far. But some, come from math! Which kind of shocks me.
I do hang out by Coiran, Beckett, Plumacher - and even Milton. Can see shades of Milton in me through Shelley of course. Thank god for Cervantes. I have a char called Man of La Muncha.
And in some ways, approach to novel is right out of Roman de la Rose, which is the FIRST book of Fiction in French. Kind of like how Chaucer is considered first to write fiction in English.
Except of course its more like a French movie the way it talks about love…in that prerogative of poets French do so well.
Just did a steal, from Yeats, his phrase - slouching to bethlehem, for the novel.
Acker does Joanie does Clarice does — counting lime fingers…
Everybody does esp for chapter titles its a genuine tribute! but its also as a respondent… Nick does too. I really like writers who dont mind getting into the technical…on the substrates.
Like Lenny even. He did too….
Party Guys
Well these republicans are party guys and love hanging around with girls in fancy dress. Its a thing you know. Did you ever do that. I did for a little while, bit more as a demi mondaine than full on, got some great dresses and other gifts.
Diamond Jims. Often can be very generous with their money, for them it is a way of showing that they care. It’s not a dishonesty. It’s just money. Sometimes very kind.
But it also takes on a darkness of being paid for — got offered apartments, the whole lot.
Started kind of freaking me out. Made a scene at the Pierre got yelled at by the lovely piano man….
Anything take on comes with a full gambit.
Not remain independent! just paid for, money no object at times …
Money at the middle of it. One day it broke, sky broke over head on it and flattened it, its a kind of religious flatness where time caves in to its eternal horror, distance suddenly takes over, reveals another shade of hell…
Slowly I turned because its not that I didnt love them, I had — still, left town, split from the scene, went abroad.
That said, being escorted all over town in town cars, to eat at fancy restaurants, it was a blast at times. Generosity can be intoxicating.
Being Assertive
I just screamed at someone on threads who then blocked me.
And I feel sorry that I did that.
Many peops are not into politics - as survival, like others are, knowing the depth of this country’s disagreements and religious relegation. And its militancies.
And how we are sick, nay scared, of Trump’s nonsense.
The person wasnt unkind to me, her family I think was on the other side, and she refrained… Was just curious. Mentioned she didnt vote. And I did my you didnt vote freak on her.
Which I have done here too.
Have tried hard to stop doing that. Because I can understand how people see it as filled with hate, viscerally tires them out, dont know or have the answers anyway.
Dont want to have to think about. That it gets so fired up and accusatory on all sides, and all that jazz… propaganda exploding with misery.
Turns into a violent intrusion even…
My intrusion got me blocked. Fuck me. I know for me it’s not an option. Politics is also about survival of our democracy.
