hi. thank you for kind words. god for me includes philosophy as major stem. and philosophy and science emerge metaphysically through discussion of what god is - not so much in heaven as on earth -- believers saw and some still do, math as "mind" of god...Anywhoo -- I researched this some. And found out the Saint that Cioran and Bataille bring up == St. Teresa of Avila who was Spanish not French -- And I can see now why Bataille brings her up. Because she wrote a book called The Interior Castle aka The 7 Mansions (use of castle makes me laugh, ie. pre kafka...) and Bataille wrote a book called L'experience interieure, and Cioran is a forever lapsing catholic... Updated post to mention that I tracked down the Saint, but I havent read her yet -- scares me a little to be drawn into her mind, no doubt I'll get through at least I hope 1 of the 7 Mansions of the soul she describes....I call mine: vortex of multiple personalties that must have an intermediary or I am fucked.
Thank you for writing this and much appreciation for translating Cioran’s notebooks. Great line from the 1960 notebook: “As lonely as an unemployed God.”
the space inside me where god once might have been is curious again. i admire your brain.
